Sinopec and China Aviation Oil: Restructuring Hydrogen-Based Energy to Promote Commercial Use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel
On January 8, Sinopec and China Aviation Oil jointly announced a restructuring initiative. This collaboration between the two central enterprises is expected to inject strong momentum into the large-scale commercialization of sustainable aviation fuel, an important component of hydrogen-based energy.
On the same day, Sinopec Capital, through its hydrogen energy fund managed by Sinopec Private Equity Fund Management Co., Ltd., strategically invested 300 million RMB in Faurecia (Shanghai) Hydrogen Energy Investment Co., Ltd., with the signing ceremony successfully completed, further demonstrating its commitment to investing in the hydrogen energy sector.
PetroChina: Accelerating "Thermal-Electric-Hydrogen" Layout and Expanding Emerging Industries
On January 8, the second bidding results for the hydrogen production station survey and design services of the Inner Mongolia Huadian Damao Banner 1-million-kilowatt wind-solar-hydrogen project were announced, with PetroChina Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. successfully winning the bid. Looking back at 2025, PetroChina actively established multiple new companies, covering a wide range of businesses including wind and solar power generation, charging and battery swapping, hydrogen energy, energy storage, and geothermal energy. The company is fully accelerating the development of emerging industries such as "thermal-electric-hydrogen" and "biochemical-materials" while proactively planning for future industries.
Jilin Electric Power and Korean Enterprises: Sign MOU for Green Fuel Procurement, Focusing on Green Hydrogen-Based Fuels
On January 5, during the China-Korea Business Cooperation Agreement signing ceremony held during the high-level visit of South Korean officials to China, Jilin Electric Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SPIC, and a leading Korean clean energy company formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Green Fuel Procurement. The collaboration will focus on green hydrogen-based fuels such as green ammonia and green methanol, marking the beginning of a new chapter in international cooperation.
State Power Investment Corporation: Establishes Hydrogen Energy Subsidiary and Increases Investment in Hydrogen Equipment Enterprises
On January 5, SPIC (Tianjin) Energy Investment Co., Ltd. was officially established with a registered capital of 200 million RMB. The legal representative is Peng Wansheng, and the company is wholly owned by SPIC Group Tianjin Electric Power Co., Ltd. Its business scope covers a wide range of areas, including energy-saving management services, power generation technology services, energy storage technology services, sales of hydrogen refueling and storage facilities for stations, and operation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, focusing on the layout of new energy and hydrogen energy-related businesses.
Earlier, on December 25, Hunan Longshen Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed its A+ round of financing, with strategic investment from the innovation investment company under SPIC. Following the financing, SPIC Innovation Investment holds a 5.2632% stake in Longshen Hydrogen Energy, continuing to increase investment in the hydrogen equipment sector.
China Energy Investment Group: Establishes Hydrogen Energy Division to Strengthen Strategic Business Position
Recently, the updated "Organizational Structure" section on the official website of China Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd. has attracted significant industry attention. As the first among the five major power generation groups, CEIG has established a Hydrogen Energy Division. Since 2016, CEIG has been actively involved in the hydrogen energy industry, taking the lead in establishing the China Hydrogen Alliance and setting up a specialized wholly-owned subsidiary, Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The subsidiary’s registered capital has now increased to 661 million RMB. Hydrogen energy has been clearly defined as a strategic business for the group’s green and low-carbon transformation and the development of new quality productive forces.
CEEC Guangdong Institute: Signs Green Aviation Fuel Project, Aims to Build Global High-Altitude Demonstration Base
Recently, the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute under China Energy Engineering Group, as the lead unit, officially signed the project for the comprehensive development of clean and low-carbon hydrogen energy in Lhasa, Tibet—feasibility study and survey design for the demonstration project of an annual production of 100,000 tons of green aviation fuel. The project will integrate green power, hydrogen energy, and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) technologies, aiming to establish the world’s largest green aviation fuel production base in high-altitude regions.
