China Coal and China Shipbuilding Sign Agreement with Jiangxi: 45 Billion Yuan Investment for 500MW Wind-to-Hydrogen-to-Methanol Project

On the morning of January 26, the People’s Government of Poyang County in Jiangxi Province signed a cooperation framework agreement with China Coal Xinji (Jiangxi) New Energy Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Technology Co., Ltd. for a 500,000-kilowatt wind power-to-hydrogen-to-green methanol integrated project, with a total investment of 4.5 billion yuan. The project has now entered the substantive implementation phase.
The project will fully leverage Poyang County’s abundant wind energy resources to construct a 500,000-kilowatt wind power facility, accompanied by an integrated project capable of producing 16,500 tons of green hydrogen and 150,000 tons of green methanol annually. This initiative will establish a new energy industrial system encompassing wind power generation, green electricity-based hydrogen production, and green methanol synthesis. It will not only promote the orderly, stable, and sustainable development of the new energy sector in Poyang County but also help establish it as a significant base for new energy fuel manufacturing, contributing to the achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
The three parties involved in the agreement complement each other’s strengths through a powerful collaboration. Poyang County provides resources and policy support, China Coal Xinji brings extensive experience in new energy project development and operation, and China Shipbuilding Technology possesses strong capabilities in marine engineering, energy equipment, and hydrogen technology. This cooperation will integrate the advantages of all parties to facilitate the efficient implementation and long-term stable operation of the project, driving the extension of Poyang County’s new energy industry toward a high-value-added energy and chemical industry chain.
