Recently, the 2024 symposium on international cooperation in ecological and environmental protection with the theme of "Jointly Discussing the Path of Green Development" was held in Beijing. Zhao Yingmin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Secretary-General of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance, attended the meeting and made a keynote speech. Liu Shijin, Chinese Chief Advisor of CCICED, delivered a special invited speech.
The symposium was hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, co-organized by the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), and strongly supported by the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance.
At the symposium, Zhao Yingmin, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Secretary-General of CCICED, and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Belt and Road Green Development International Alliance, stated that international cooperation is the solution to global environmental issues. China has achieved remarkable success in ecological civilization construction and climate change response and is willing to share these experiences with countries around the world.
Zhao Yingmin pointed out that the key to global green development is to transform traditional development models and adhere to a green, low-carbon, and circular development path. China has actively explored and practiced in this regard, gradually achieving a green transformation of its economy and society by promoting the development of green industries, green energy, green transportation, and other areas. At the same time, China is also actively participating in global environmental governance, strengthening cooperation with the international community, and jointly responding to global environmental challenges.
Liu Shijin, Chinese Chief Advisor of CCICED, delivered a special invited speech at the symposium. He deeply elaborated on the concept and practice of green development and called on countries to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote global green development. Liu Shijin stated that only through international cooperation can we effectively address global environmental issues and achieve sustainable development for human society.
The meeting shared China's achievements in ecological civilization construction in 2023 and its progress in participating in and promoting international environmental and climate governance processes. The meeting noted that 2023 was an extraordinary year for ecological environmental protection work, with positive progress made in China's ecological civilization construction and fruitful results achieved in building a community with a shared future for mankind. Looking ahead to 2024, China will continue to uphold multilateralism, constructively promote global climate and environmental governance, promote the joint construction of the Green Silk Road, build a new pattern of mutual learning and practical cooperation, strengthen South-South cooperation in ecological environmental protection and climate change response, and provide more public goods in the field of environmental governance to the world.
The successful holding of this symposium has injected new impetus into promoting global green development. Participants expressed their willingness to take this symposium as an opportunity to further strengthen international cooperation, jointly respond to global environmental challenges, and make unremitting efforts to build a better future.
