National Ecological Environment Protection Work Conference: Jointly Discussing a New Chapter in the Construction of Beautiful China

From January 23rd to 24th, the Ministry of Ecological Environment held the 2024 National Ecological Environment Protection Work Conference in Beijing. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the conference comprehensively implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Second Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the Central Economic Work Conference. It also thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping's Thoughts on Ecological Civilization and the spirit of the National Ecological Environment Protection Conference. The conference summarized the ecological environment protection work in 2023, analyzed the current situation, and arranged key tasks for 2024. Sun Jinlong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Ecological Environment, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, and Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecological Environment, attended the meeting and presented a work report.
The conference pointed out that in the past year, facing a complex domestic and international environment, the national ecological environment system, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, has resolutely fought the pollution prevention and control battle and achieved remarkable results. At the same time, it is also clearly aware of the challenges and opportunities faced by the current ecological environment protection.
The conference emphasized that 2024 is a crucial year for comprehensively promoting the construction of Beautiful China. The national ecological environment system will continue to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Second Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the Central Economic Work Conference, and thoroughly implement the path of ecological priority, conservation, intensification, green and low-carbon development. Actively promoting green and low-carbon high-quality development is the focus of this conference. With the increasingly severe global climate change, green and low-carbon development has become a common goal pursued by all countries. China is also actively promoting green and low-carbon development, strengthening ecological environment governance and protection to achieve sustainable economic and social development.
Specifically, it will focus on promoting the construction of Beautiful China pilot areas, promoting local practices at different levels; continuously deepening the pollution prevention and control battle to improve the quality of the ecological environment; actively promoting green and low-carbon development to help economic transformation and upgrading; increasing efforts in ecological protection and restoration to enhance the stability of ecosystems; strengthening nuclear and radiation safety supervision to ensure environmental safety; promoting technological innovation in ecological environment to enhance governance capabilities; and improving the modern environmental governance system to enhance environmental awareness throughout society.
This conference has pointed the way forward for the new year's ecological environment protection work and will provide strong guarantees for building a modern China where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.
