Construction of the country's first hydrogen-powered tugboat project begins

Recently, in Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Province, the country's first hydrogen-powered tugboat project officially started, marking an important step in the green and intelligent transformation of China's shipbuilding industry.

The project has built a 7000 horsepower hydrogen-electric hybrid tugboat for Qingdao Port, which will adopt the power mode of "hydrogen fuel cell + liquid-cooled lithium battery" and become a new type of green ecological sign ship. It is estimated that after the tugboat is put into operation, it will reduce carbon emissions by more than 1400 tons every year, making an important contribution to the cause of environmental protection.

China Classification Society (CCS), as an authoritative organization, is actively involved in the project establishment phase, providing pre-contract services for shipyards and shipowners, and coordinating technical exchanges among experts, providing strong support for the successful landing of the project. At the same time, CCS also made a response plan for the risk points in the later construction phase to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

The start of the hydrogen-powered tugboat project not only demonstrates China's innovative strength in the field of hydrogen energy technology, but also sets a new environmental protection benchmark for the port industry. The successful implementation of the project will promote more ships to adopt green power technology and contribute to the green and high-quality marine development of our country.

It is reported that the project, funded by Shandong Port Qingdao Port Barge Company and built by Zhenjiang Shipyard, is the first application of hydrogen fuel cell system on tugboat by China Shipbuilding 712 and is of landmark significance.
