Sinopec accelerates the 100,000-ton/year wind and solar hydrogen production project in Ulanqab, and construction is about to start within the year

Sinopec's another major layout in the field of hydrogen energy is accelerating. On July 22, the Shangdu County government received news that Ulanqab Sinopec's 100,000-ton/year wind and solar hydrogen production integrated project was in full swing, with the goal of starting construction within the year.
The project has green and low-carbon as its core and aims to produce 100,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, covering all aspects of construction such as wind power generation, photovoltaic power generation, power transmission and transformation, hydrogen production and long-distance transmission pipelines. At present, the hydrogen production site has been successfully filed.
The hydrogen production plant is located in Bianhujing Township, Shangdu County, Ulanqab City, covering an area of about 820 acres. 25 new hydrogen production plants will be built, equipped with a total of 100 sets of high-efficiency electrolytic cell equipment to achieve the annual production capacity target. At the same time, the project's supporting new energy scale reaches 2.546 million kilowatt-hours, including 1.742 million kilowatts of wind power and 804,000 kilowatts of photovoltaic power, providing strong power for green hydrogen production.
In addition, the project also plans a 1145-kilometer-long hydrogen pipeline, spanning five provinces (cities, autonomous regions), and setting up multiple stations and valve chambers to ensure safe and efficient transportation of hydrogen energy. The hydrogen storage capacity is expected to reach 261 tons, demonstrating the project's breakthrough and strength in hydrogen energy storage technology.
