The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology promotes the application of hydrogen energy industry and accelerates green and low-carbon transformation

On October 23, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated at a press conference that it will actively promote the application of clean, low-carbon hydrogen in the industrial field as part of the ecological background of new industrialization. Tao Qing, spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealed that the "Action Plan for Green and Low-Carbon Development of the Manufacturing Industry" will be issued to help the comprehensive green transformation of the economy and society.
To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on multiple key areas. First, we will accelerate the formulation of carbon footprint accounting standards for industrial products, especially for key products such as steel, electrolytic aluminum, lithium batteries and new energy vehicles, to reduce carbon emissions throughout the life cycle of products and promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial and supply chains.
Secondly, strengthen the construction of emerging solid waste comprehensive utilization systems, especially for used power batteries and used photovoltaic modules, formulate and introduce comprehensive utilization management methods, and lay out comprehensive utilization capabilities in advance to prepare for the peak of retirement.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will actively promote the application of clean, low-carbon hydrogen in the industrial field, especially in the metallurgical, chemical, petrochemical and other industries to achieve large-scale application breakthroughs in industrial green microgrids, green ships, green aviation and other fields.
The research and development of hydrogen energy in my country has a history of many years. With the rapid development of the economy and the increasingly tight energy supply, hydrogen energy is gradually becoming an important part of my country's new energy system. As of the end of 2023, my country's hydrogen production capacity has exceeded 49 million tons/year, and the output has exceeded 35 million tons, a year-on-year increase of approximately 2.3%. More than 900 hydrogen hydrogen-related policies have been issued across the country, showing that the country attaches great importance to the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
