Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Moderately advanced layout of hydrogen energy storage

On November 6th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the "Action Plan for High Quality Development of New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry" (draft for comments), aiming to promote innovation and development of new energy storage technologies.

The draft proposes to implement innovative actions for new energy storage technologies and develop diversified new energy storage ontology technologies to meet the needs of multi time scales and multi application scenarios such as short-term and long-term energy storage. Among them, mature technologies such as lithium batteries and supercapacitors will accelerate iteration and upgrading, while supporting disruptive technological innovation to enhance the supply capacity of high-end products.

In addition, new energy storage technologies such as sodium batteries and flow batteries will also be subject to engineering and application technology breakthroughs to improve technical economy and system energy conversion efficiency. It is worth noting that the draft also proposes to moderately advance the layout of ultra long term energy storage technologies such as hydrogen energy storage, encourage the exploration and development of multiple types of hybrid energy storage technologies based on application needs, and support basic research on forward-looking technologies such as new system batteries and thermal and cold storage.
