Ansteel hydrogen metallurgy project selected as a key project for expanding the application of scientific and technological achievements of central enterprises

Recently, the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration jointly released the first batch of project lists for the Central Enterprise Science and Technology Achievement Application Expansion Project, with a total of 50 projects selected. Among them, Ansteel Group's "Green Hydrogen Zero Carbon Fluidized Bed Hydrogen Metallurgy Pilot Line" became the only hydrogen energy related project selected, marking Ansteel's significant breakthrough in the field of hydrogen metallurgy.
This project is the world's first green hydrogen zero carbon fluidized bed high-efficiency ironmaking new technology demonstration project, jointly developed by Ansteel Group, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai University, with completely independent intellectual property rights. This project adopts internationally advanced electrolytic water technology to prepare green hydrogen, and combines efficient modification technology of iron ore powder and new technology of fluidized bed ironmaking to achieve a breakthrough and industrialization of low-carbon metallurgical new technology route.
It is reported that the project will form a demonstration of a 10000 ton fluidized bed hydrogen ironmaking project, reducing reduction time by more than 30% and effectively avoiding bonding, providing a "Chinese solution" for the development of hydrogen metallurgy technology in the world. This achievement not only helps promote the green and low-carbon innovation development of China's steel industry, but also provides strong support for the rapid expansion of application scenarios and scales of the domestic hydrogen energy industry.
In 2024, China's steel industry has made significant breakthroughs in the field of hydrogen metallurgy, including a series of hydrogen metallurgy projects such as China Steel Research Institute, Hebei Iron and Steel Group Zhangxuan Technology, and Zhanjiang Iron and Steel. The successful implementation of these projects not only provides strong support for China's steel industry to explore zero carbon green transformation, but also lays a solid foundation for the widespread application of hydrogen energy industry in China.
