The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology promotes the green and low-carbon transformation of the manufacturing industry: focusing on key industries and expanding the application of clean and low-carbon hydrocarbons

On January 21, 2025, Zhang Yunming, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, announced at a press conference that the Ministry will further promote the green and low-carbon development of the manufacturing industry and introduce relevant policy measures. Zhang Yunming emphasized that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will adopt a dual strategy of "stock transformation" and "incremental strengthening" to achieve this goal.
In terms of "stock transformation", the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will accelerate the green upgrading of traditional industries, strengthen the promotion and application of advanced green and low-carbon technology equipment, and explore the construction of zero carbon factories and industrial parks, cultivating a number of green manufacturing benchmarks. This will help improve the environmental performance and resource utilization efficiency of existing industries.
At the same time, in terms of "incremental strengthening", the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on key industries such as metallurgy and petrochemicals, actively expand clean low-carbon hydrogen application scenarios, and cultivate and strengthen green low-carbon industries. In addition, policy measures will be introduced to promote the high-quality development of the environmental protection equipment manufacturing industry, optimize and strengthen the green intelligent computing industry chain, and create a number of green intelligent computing centers.
In response to emerging solid waste such as waste power batteries and waste photovoltaic modules, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will also accelerate the improvement of relevant regulations and policies, improve the recycling and comprehensive utilization system, in order to promote the safe and efficient recycling of these wastes.
