Beijing has exceeded its hydrogen energy demonstration target and will promote the application of hydrogen energy in the transportation sector by 2025

On April 1st, the Beijing Development and Reform Commission announced that Beijing has exceeded the four-year task of the Beijing Tianjin Hebei fuel cell demonstration city cluster and will vigorously promote the development of the entire hydrogen energy industry chain by 2025.
According to the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, in 2024, Beijing successfully promoted 16 advanced hydrogen technology demonstration projects, built 4 hydrogen refueling stations, and promoted a total of 3666 fuel cell vehicles. At the same time, the hydrogen electric coupling low-carbon park project in the southern area of Daxing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone and the National Hydrogen Fuel Cell Inspection and Testing Center have also been completed.
Looking ahead to 2025, Beijing will prioritize the development of hydrogen energy as one of the key areas of energy work. According to the newly released "Beijing Energy Work Points for 2025", Beijing will focus on promoting the large-scale application of hydrogen energy in the transportation sector and exploring diversified applications in building power generation, industry, and heating.
In addition, Beijing will optimize and improve the top-level design of the energy sector, build a safe and resilient energy supply system and a green and low-carbon energy consumption system, enhance the level of external green electricity consumption, and accelerate the construction of a new type of power system. At the same time, Beijing will also build a more dynamic energy technology innovation system and an efficient collaborative energy governance system to promote the sustainable development and innovation of the energy industry.
